In 1994 I opened a restaurant here in Gimli Manitoba. I hung a Church painting in my dining room, then people said, "Where's my Church." I then started on my quest of finding Churches. Each town would have five or more.Through research I found many lost Churches, or someone would tell me of one out in the bush. Most of the Churches were built with volenteer labour for less than one thousand dollars. Candles, wood stoves or grass fires claimed many of them.  They were displayed here in Gimli at the The New Islandic Heritage Museum one whole summer. They are a historical record of the early settlers who made our country what it is today. GOOD NEWS as of 16 november 2012 I have donated all 220 of these paintings to the Arborg Heritage Village Museum. www.arborgheritagevillage.ca  They are hung in a restored community hall. I wish to thank the board of the Village for providing a home for these treasures. I'm still looking for a Photo of the RC Chapel on the Gimli RCAF Station. At the end of this page are some Churches from across Canada.
